Abstract

Telisa Webb Schelin is Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for Behringer Harvard, a sponsor of real estate investment programs for institutions and individuals based in Dallas, Texas. Specifically, Schelin serves as General Counsel and Secretary of Behringer Harvard REIT I, Inc., a publicly registered, non-listed real estate investment trust that owns 70 commercial office properties with approximately 25 million in square footage located in 23 states and the District of Columbia.

Schelin is responsible for all legal aspects of Behringer Harvard REIT I, Inc. and is its advisor and property manager. Her responsibilities include corporate governance, public company reporting, securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, lease administration, litigation management, and finance, real estate and commercial business transactions. Schelin graduated from The University of Tulsa College of Law with highest honors in 1998 and also received her B.A. in Political Science from TU in 1995. In 2010, she was recognized by the Dallas Business Journal as one of its "40 Under Forty", which recognizes accomplished executives and entrepreneurs under the age of 40, and was named one of the 10 leading “Women of Influence” by Real Estate Forum magazine.

Challenges Facing the Federal Judiciary

Abstract

Judge Sippel is a 1978 graduate of the University of Tulsa. He received his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1981. He is a United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Missour and was confirmed as a District Judge by the United States Senate in November of 1998.

In 2009 Judge Sippel was chosen by the District and Circuit Judges of the Eighth Circuit to serve on the Judicial Conference of the United States. The Judicial Conference is the official policy making body of the United States Judiciary. Upon his selection to the Judicial Conference, Chief Justice John Roberts appointed Judge Sippel to the Judicial Conference’s Executive Committee. In addition to serving on the Executive Committee, Judge Sippel serves as the Executive Committee liaison to the Judicial Conference Committee on Federal and State Jurisdiction, the Ad Hoc Committee on Courts and The New Media and the liaison between the Federal Judiciary and the Conference of State Court Justices. Before his appointment to the Judicial Conference’s Executive Committee, Judge Sippel served on the Judicial Conference’s Judicial Branch Committee from 2001 through 2010 where he was chair of the Travel Regulations Subcommittee. Judge Sippel served on the Jury Instructions Committee of the Eighth Circuit from 2004 through 2010 and the Eastern District of Missouri Alternative Dispute Resolution Advisory Committee. The Multi-District Panel on Litigation has referred multi-district cases to Judge Sippel including the Metoprolol Succinate patent litigation, the Celexa/Lexapro products liability litigation and most recently the Nuvaring products liability litigation.

Abstract

David A. Tracy has practiced law in Tulsa for more than 25 years Tracy is a partner in the Naylor, Williams & Tracy law firm, where his practice is focused on family law, including litigation and appeals, mediation, and collaborative family law. He is a qualified family law mediator under the Oklahoma District Court Mediation Act. Tracy is a member of the Tulsa County Bar Association (Family Law Section chair 1994-1995), Oklahoma Bar Association (Family Law Section chair 2000), American Bar Association (Family Law Section member), Oklahoma Academy of Collaborative Professionals, and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. His community involvement includes current or prior service on the boards of the Oklahoma Academy of Collaborative Professionals (President 2007), Riverfield Country Day School (Board Chair 2010) and The University of Tulsa College of Law Alumni Association. Tracy received his B. S. degree in Radio-TV-Film, News and Public Affairs from Oklahoma State University in 1976 and his J.D. degree from The University of Tulsa College of Law in 1983.
