Statutes are laws enacted by legislatures, or written law. Statutes have the power to overturn or modify court decisions and lay out regulations for administrative bodies. On Westlaw Precision, statutes can be accessed by selecting "Statutes" on the home page or "Federal or State Materials."
If you click on "Statutes" you will be led to the following page and can start your search by using the search bar at the top or selecting the relevant federal code, state, or topic.
For example, we can look for general laws on adoption and tribes in Oklahoma. After clicking on Oklahoma, you can either narrow down your search with the search bar above or find the statute from the list of Oklahoma statutes. The researcher here used the search bar and the following terms, "adoption" AND "tribal." The second result was "§ 40.4. Indian child custody proceedings--Notice. See example below:
