Preparing for the Bar Exam

Guide to the Bar Exam
Start With the Basics

It is important to approach the bar exam as if it were a full-time job during the 9 -12 weeks of your study period. The materials provided in this study guide, by the school, and those available in the library are not intended to be your sole resources. We strongly recommend a combination of resources, including obtaining at least a basic prep course to assist you in creating a robust study plan and positioning yourself for success. If you're trying to adhere to a budget for materials, please consider the more affordable or basic plans offered by the bar prep courses we discuss in this guide. Alternatively, you can explore purchasing study materials or books from a previous year from fellow students who no longer need them.

TU Bar Prep Class

TU College of Law offers a bar support program to its students. It is part of the 3L professionalism requirement and a prerequisite for graduation. “Strategies & Skills for Bar & Practice” (“Bar Skills”) is a one credit course taken in the final semester of law school. A full-time faculty member of the College of Law teaches this course utilizing study materials furnished by BARBRI. The course specifically addresses the mechanics of taking a bar examination and provides a substantive review of three (3) subject areas tested on the bar exam. Although this assistance does not replace the bar review program every student should take after graduation, it gives students a head starts and provides knowledge of what it takes to succeed on the bar exam.
